Toddler & Baby Group

 

We are an informal drop-in group for under-2s and carers. We welcome child with parents, grandparents, carers, on Monday mornings from 10am-11:30am, to meet, chat, play, sing and snack. £2 per family, and proceeds after costs go to children’s charities.

 

Classes are Monday mornings at 10am-11:30am

Young Engineers

Young Engineers sessions educate and excite children about Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) by providing fun and inspirational classes using K'nex and Lego.  We are passionate about engineering and believe that our programmes help inspire our young people to get excited by technical subjects and give them the opportunity to learn about and explore their world in a fun and exciting way.  

Classes are Thursdays at 3.45pm and 5pm 

Yogabellies

Yoga classes suitable from 6 weeks post-birth until baby is 10 months old.  Rebuild your BAPS - Mummy Muscles (Back-Abs-Pelvic Floor) whilst practising peaceful breathing techniques and lovely flowing yoga sequences with your baby. In our Mum and Baby Yoga baby isn't put in a corner - oh no! Baby has their own leg and arm exercises too.  All the while we all sing nursery rhymes and have lots of fun and laughter! These classes are the perfect blend of meditation, physical exercise and relaxation for both mother and baby. Booked as "rolling" 6 week blocks. Spaces must be booked in advance due to high demand.

Stockbridge and Inverleith Community Council 

The Stockbridge and Inverleith Community Council (Edinburgh), exists to ascertain, co-ordinate and express the views of the Stockbridge and Inverleith Community to Local Government and Public Authorities.

All members of the community are welcome to attend and participate.Stockbridge and Inverleith Community Council generally meet the third Wednesday of the month at 7.00pm at Stockbridge Church.

Stockbridge and Newtown Community Orchestra

Stockbridge and New Town Community Orchestra is a for-fun organisation of Edinburgh-area amateur musicians who like to get together Thursday nights for a bit of playing. They have been around since 1995 and hold two concerts every year - but meet mostly just to play. Musical focus varies from orchestral favourites like Sibelius's Finlandia and the March to the Scaffold from Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique to smaller works for soloists, such as Mozart's 4th horn concerto, immortalised in Flanders & Swann's affectionate pastiche Ill Wind. Rehearsals are on Thursday @ 7pm

Diane Simpson's Yoga

Drop in yoga classes in Stockbridge with Diane Simpson. Come and join our friendly yoga class, everyone is welcome from the complete beginner to the more experienced practitioner. Bringe a mat and a block if possible, I do have some spare ones too. Wear comfortable clothing and most importantly come and enjoy and leave feeling relaxed and Yourself but an improved version of you. Price is £8.

Class is on Friday @ 9.45am

Medical parent and baby group

Group for all local parents with babies 6 months or under. Health Visitors offer support with breast/infant feeding and all other aspects of baby and child care. Contact Health Visitors on

Pilates Plus was established in 2010, bringing you Pilates designed and instructed by qualified physiotherapists. Tess and Laura are the co-founders of Pilates Plus. Since 2009 the team has grown since then, and they are now a team of 10. They all share a passion for Pilates and are qualified physiotherapists and Pilates instructors. All welcome! Pilates +

Instruction in tai chi chuan, the renowned health and self-development art. Our members welcome beginners (and more advanced practitioners). Classes in International Wu Shu Federation (Beijing), standard training syllabus for Tai Chi Chuan – international competition forms, combined styles (Yang, Wu, Chen and Sun) – traditional long forms and weapons forms of Tai Chi Chuan.  There is also supplemental training in a variety of Chi Gung methods. 

Classes are on Mondays at 7.45pm

Tai Chi

Each session includes roughly half an hour of signing and signing, and ample social time for tea or coffee while your baby plays and makes friends.  Sing and Sign classes follow a 10 week curriculum covering all the signs you need to know for day to day life with your baby or toddler.  There are 3 different age-appropriate stages available: 2-7 months old, 6-18 months old, and 14 months to 2 years and beyond.

Classes are on Saturdays @ 10am

The Welcoming Choir is an international choir in the heart of Edinburgh. Whether you're new to the city or you've lived here for years, join us and help build community together.

Girls' Brigade is a Christian organisation and part of each meeting involves Bible story time and worship. We also do loads of games and crafts. We do lots of other things too like singing, baking, helping other people and learning about our world. We take part in events with other Girls’ Brigade companies in Edinburgh.

Malawi Coffee Mornings

These are held on Friday mornings in the Church between 10.30am and 12 noon when Fair Trade teas and coffees are served.  Greeting cards are also for sale.  All profits go to our Malawi Project.
